10/2 I just got ready for Norman to come in. I picked him up at the airport. Had dinner ready for him we he got here.
10/3 Norman and I enjoyed being together for the day. He cooked dinner for Doug and I.
10/4 We had a busy day. Had to buy gas before drivng to the Survivor Day, we thought we were going to get into an accident in the parking lot of one of the few stations open with the gas shortage. Doug, Norman and I went to the 13th Annual Survivor Day on the Northside of town. Very enjoyable day but tiring.
10/5 Relaxed and then took Doug for visit with Dr. Perry. We are sorry to have him leave the practice. He is moving to Atlanta. Hopefully, we will get to see him sometimes. Dorothy, Norman, Doug and I went out to eat. Nice evening.
10/6 Had Cool Ray come out to check out the furnace for the winter. All was well with it Thank GOD! Had to take Norman to the Airport to go home. I always hate to see him leave.
10/7 Dorothy had appointment with Dr. Van. He cleaned wax out of her ear and made some of the dizziness go away.
10/8 Went to Krogers to get Senior Discount. Also got Dorothy's hair cut.
10/9 Just relaxed all day was tired from all the running this week. Gas prices have gone through the roof. Had a rough night. Had a stomach ache all night and started throwing-up.
10/10 I have been watching the Game Show Network and playing games online. Fun and bettter than watching Soaps! I did not feel good all day. Threw-up a few times. Called the doctor to see they needed to see me. Finally, had Doug fix some soup and crackers. Felt better after I ate. Scary to get a bug! Was afraid of another blockage but all is well.
10/11 Felt drained out from the flu yesterday. Just read some of the many books on my book shelves. Nice to be able to forward and share books with my friends.
10/12 Doug and I enjoyed being together on the weekend. Both of us had no energy. Doug got up with the dogs and I slept until 10:00am. Really something for me. Enjoyed watching football and having Dorothy over.
10/13 Dorothy had a doctor's appointment so we had lunch out. Went to American Deli for soup and sandwich.
10/14 Stayed home and rested. Tired from the runnning.
10/15 Paid bills so much fun. Did laundry.
10/16 Sometimes the days get away from me. Just do a little housework and cook and the day is over.
10/17 Talked to Mom she is excited to get to see Norman.
10/18 Norman spent some time with Granny and Gramps at the Senior Home they then had a cook out at Linda's with the rest of the family.
10/19 Norman flew home from Dallas and let me know how nice The Waterford is. Makes me lonesome for the family. Guess I will get to see Mom and Dad's new place some day.
10/20 Dorothy call this morning and told me she didn't feel good that she was dizzy again. She never called me back so I thought she was doing better. Doug and I went to Early vote at 6:30pm when he got home from work. We were home a few minutes after 7:00pm While we were voting Dorothy had a spell and the neighbor called 911. She was on her way to the hospital when we got back to the house. We made sure the dogs were fed and walked before we left for the hospital. Good thing we took care of the pets before we went to the hospital we were there until 3:00am.
10/21 Doug and I slept though the alarm. He had to call in because we were both exhausted from being at the hospital so long. We got back to the hospital after getting something to eat before we went this time since we didn't get to eat until 2:00am last night. They released Dorothy from the hospital with Vertigo and an anziety attack. We didn't get home until midnight. We were very tired again.
10/22 Doug went to work but was exhausted. I went to Dorothy's to check on her. She seemed fine but tired from not sleep much at the hospital. The Visiting Nurse was there while I was there.
10/23 Picked up a few things for Dorothy at the store and made sure she was okay.
10/24 Made Doug's lunch and dinner still tired from the hospital scare this week.
10/25 I let Doug sleep most of the day. Seems like we both are especially tired from the stress of having Dorothy sick.
10/26 We took Dorothy dinner and watched the races with her. Had a nice day.
10/27 Here we go again. Monday again. Made Doug's lunch did laundry and tried to relax the rest of the day.

9/1 Mom and Dad stayed at Norris and Anne's. They got use to being in Dallas for the storm.
9/2 Linda took Mom and Dad for a check up as they ER doctor requested. Dad checked out okay. Margaret went to see the surgeon and was told that she should wear support for her stomach. He took half the staples out and told Viv to remove the remaining ones in a week. Margaret was told not to lift anything heavy. No 12 packs of soda even. Went to infectious disease doctors for bandage change and labs.
9/3 Margaret had to go back to infectious disease doctors office for the lab results and get more IVs.
9/4 Nice not to have to go anywhere today. We enjoyed being home.
9/5 Margaret took the last of the IV's. It will be nice not to have the IV's at home.

9/7 The family went to a casino day at the Waterford and Mom and Dad agreed to move there. A lease was signed.

9/9 Margaret had to go to infectious disease doctor to see if the infection is gone. All is well with her health and the pic line was removed. Viv removed the rest of the staples.
9/10 Margaret and Viv cleaned out clothes from the closet and took them to the Salvation Army. Viv has been working on her finances to clear up her credit report.

9/12 Viv took Dorothy and Margaret to the grocery store. Vivian is planning to leave for Maryland soon. Mom and Dad moved to the Waterford. Linda, Robin, Norris, Bob and Anne helped get them settled into the apartment.
9/13 Viv went to the lake with Cathy and Mike. She enjoyed the day. Ike hit Galveston! Don't know if Mom and Dad's house is okay. Doug and I stayed in the recliners all night watching the Storm coverage. Viv finally went to bed about 4am.
9/14 Margaret and Doug had a doctor's appointment and got flu shots. Jackie's house had water in it and she lost both of her cars, they were under water.

9/16 Vivian has been going to the gym and exercising. She has lost lots of weight and looks really good.
9/17 Happy Birthday to Frank Cooke. Vivian decided to go to the lake one more time before going to Maryland. Margaret and Vivian went to AAA for a trip tick for Vivian's trip.
9/18 Dorothy wanted to take Vivian to dinner before she left. Ilene met us at Longhorn. We enjoyed the evening. Viv stayed up getting things ready to go for her trip.
9/19 Happy 66th Anniversary to Mom and Dad. Vivian left for Maryland. She drove to Virginia Beach and spent the night their. Linda, Bob, Mike, Robin, Norris, Anne, Gail all had cake for Mom and Dad's anniversary at their apartment. Very busy night.
9/20 Doug and I just chilled. He got up with the dogs and I slept late. What a change. I did laundry. Doug replaced the storm door handle. Dropped a part and will have to replace later.
9/21 I got up with the dogs and Doug slept late. I finished the laundry. Doug straightened up the living room and vaccumed for me. I made spaghetti so I won't have to cook the night Norman comes in.
9/22 I made sure that Norman can go to the Survivor Day on 9/27 on the Northside of town.
9/23 Just rested and worked on Vivian's afghan. Talked to Logan to see when he will take his GED test. I told him if he passed I would send him an aphgan.
9/24 Worked on Vivian's aphgan and relaxed. Did some more laundry.
9/25 Dorothy had a doctor's appointment. We then went to lunch and by Kroger's for prescriptions and a few things. I picked up Norman at the airport at 6pm. Nice to have him here again.

8/1 I just stayed home, did laundry and waited for the cable guy to come to change out the DVR cable box as are still having trouble with it. Cable guy changed out the box and checked to see what the problem was. He finally decided that it was not the box but the TV. I was not a happy camper. Doug checked it by unplugging TV so it could recycle. Seems to work better. Still having problems. We stayed up too late watching old artists from the 60 and 70 on HDTV was a nice relaxing evening.
8/2 We both slept late. I got up at 7:30am with the dogs. I took my Fosamax and sat up for two hours. Well I tought I was reading but I woke up at 12:30pm when the dogs wanted to go out again. There went the day. Made us lunch instead of breakfast sort of a short day.
8/3 Hi Norm here. Mom got sick today. She began vomiting in the mornig and continued throughout the day. Sunday night Doug tool her to the hospital to get her checked out. They spent hte night at the hospital while they did some tests.
8/4 Today the doctors did a CAT scan on Margaret. The results showed a blockage in her intestins causing things to back up. The doctors gave her an IV to put fluid back in her system. Later in the day the doctor inserted a tube to pump out her stomach. The tube made Margaret feel better and stopped her from vomiting. The test results from the CAT scan should be back tomorrow.
8/5 Today Margaret received the results from her CAT scan. The doctors found the blockage to be from a double hernia. The hernias are restricking the intestins. The doctors will try and cure the hernias. If their methods do not work, then Margaret will need to have surgery. Please pray for Margaret.
8/6 Margaret had to have surgery today to cure her blockage. The surgery went well and she is in the ICU recovering. She does not have much energy but she can talk softly. Margaret is heavily sedated on pain medication and sleeping a lot.
8/7 Norman flew in from Baltimore to see his Mom and help out with things. He and Doug spent the day with Margaret in the ICU. The doctor said that she would probably spend a week in the hospital if everything goes well. He also said she would probably get moved to a regular room and out of the ICU tomorrow.
8/8 Today Margaret moved to a regular room. She has a slight fever, which is normal after a surgery of this calliper. The doctors and nurses will keep a close eye on the fever. Margaret is happy to be in a normal room where she can use her cell phone. Even with a weak voice she wants to talk to friends and family. Margaret was able to get out of bed and sit in a chair today. She is progressing well.
8/9 Margaret did not have a good night. She was restless and could not get comfortable. Margaret did not get much sleep. The doctor that performed the surgery came to visit today. He told us that when he had her opened up, HE DID NOT SEE ANY SIGNS OF CANCER! What wonderful news. Margaret got up and walked today with a little assistance, she walked all the way to the end of the hall and back. Outstanding!
8/10 Margaret is making progress. Her fever has completely broken. Her blood count is a bit low. The doctors will continue to monitor her blood.
8/11 Margaret started to have movement through her digestive system, a good sign. The doctors will remove the tube from her stomach soon if her progress continues. Margaret's blood was still low today so the doctor gave her 2 pints of blood. She should have more energy now. Margaret walked a bit farther down the hall today and is getting stronger. Vivian arrived today from Texas. It was a long drive for her but we are happy she made the trip with no problems. She will be able to stay with Margaret for a while and help her recover.
8/12 Margaret’s NG tube in her stomach was removed this morning. What a relief it is for Margaret not to have a tube in her throat. She got to drink some broth today and said, “It was like eating a steak". If all goes well, Mom may be released from the hospital tomorrow. Unfortunately, Norman had to go back home today. He enjoyed his time with the family even though it was under adverse conditions.
8/13 Mom is not doing well today. She spent most of the night vomiting. Her system is in shock from the surgery and her digestive system is not working properly. The doctors said that it might take some time to recover. Margaret will not be going home today.
8/14 Unfortunately, Margaret's digestive system is still not working and things are backing up. The doctors wanted to install the NG tube back into her stomach but Margaret refused. She is a tough cookie. The vomiting continues to be a thorn in her side. Vivian spent the night with her trying to comfort her while Margaret is feeling ill.
8/15 Margaret is not making any progress. The vomiting continues so she finally let the doctors put the NG tube back into her stomach. The tube is miserable but it beats vomiting. The doctors have told Margaret to get up and move around. "They want her to walk as much as possible to stimulate her system." Margaret walked a few times today.
8/16 Today Margaret is not feeling well. Her fever is back and she is coughing quite a bit. The doctors are concerned that she may get Pnuomonia. It is imperative that she keeps her body moving and coughing as much as possible.
8/17 Margaret's fever is getting worse. It reached a peak of 103.3 degrees. The family and the doctors are very concerned. It is suppose to be changed every 7 days. This is particularly troubling. The nurses are supposed to change the line every seven days but have not changed the line for fifteen days. That is totally unacceptable.
8/18 The infectious disease doctor visited Margaret today. It turns out that she has an infection in her blood stream caused by the IV line. The doctors have started Margaret on antibiotics through a new IV line. Margaret is feeling very sick and is not up for visitors. Vivian is still with her and Doug visits as well. They are trying their best to comfort Margaret while she is feeling bad.
8/19 Margaret is feeling a little better today. The antibiotics are beginning to work and her fever broke. The doctors have clamped off the NG tube to test her digestive system, so far so good. If she does not get sick or feel nausea, they will remove the NG tube tomorrow.
8/20 Margaret’s digestive system is working great and she did not get sick all night. The doctor removed the port from her stomach and gave her some ice tea. What a treat ice tea was for Margaret. She loved it and it made her throat feel better. Margaret began to walk again today and is getting stronger.
8/21 Margaret ate real food today! She had a big breakfast and lunch too. She has not eaten in three weeks. It tasted amazing to her even though it was only hospital food. She is up beat and feeling better.
8/22 Guess what? Margaret was released form the hospital last night. She had to be at the infectious disease doctor's office to get the IV's to use at home. Margaret actually slept in her own bed! Her dogs were exited to see her and she was glad to be home. Hospitals are no fun.
8/23 Margaret slept for a solid eight hours last night for the first time in weeks. You cannot get any sleep in a hospital. Every time you get comfortable, someone starts to poke at you. She still has to have antibiotics through IV but luckily, Vivian is there to administer them to her. Margaret and the family watched the race and ate spaghetti.
8/24 Margaret and family enjoyed being home. Everyone relaxed. Viv gave Margaret IV's every 12 hours.
8/25 Margaret and Vivian went to see doctor and was told that she did not have chemo since their is no sign of cancer at this time.
8/26 Margaret had to go to infectious disease doctor's for labs.
8/27 A day for Margaret not to have to go out. She just sat on her recliner and enjoyed being home.
8/28 Margaret had to go back to infectious disease doctor's for results of lab work and get more IVs.
8/29 Margaret had an eye appointment. Very tired from all the appointments. Her eyes have not changed all is well with her glasses.
8/30 We are all upset about hurricane Ike. Mom and Dad are still in Galveston and we are trying to get them to Dallas. Norris and Anne arrived in Galveston to take them to Dallas tomorrow.
8/31 Happy Birthday MOM! Norris, Anne, Mom and Dad had breakfast at Burger King and left for Dallas. The trip to Dallas was uneventful. When they arrived in Dallas they went to Anne's sister Gail's for a birthday cookout. Right as Linda and Robin arrived Daddy fell in the bathroom and split his head open. 911 was called and he went to the ER for evaluation. He had 4 staples and a CT test to make sure he was okay. Mom had a very exciting Birthday so did Dad.

He made it home okay before the storm started. Margaret and Doug decided it was time to get a new battery. Katie was funny. When the storm started she got behind the couch. Shelia could not understand what the noise was. Shelia kept barking at the couch. Doug finally got up to see what the noise was. Doug and Margaret had a big laugh at Katie behind the couch.
4/5 Doug got up earlier than Margaret, who slept in until 10:00am. We switched rolls for the day. Doug had coffee made when she got up. We just rested most of the day and watched the National Nascar race. Didn't even go out of the house other than to walk the dogs and get the mail.
